Barbour Has Arrived at Dotique: Discover Barbour & Barbour International Womenswear

barbour arrives at dotique

We’ve been keeping this one quiet for a while, but we can finally say it: Barbour and Barbour International have arrived at Dotique.

Introducing a new brand is never simply about adding more products to the website. It has to bring something worthwhile to the collection, work with the clothes our customers already love and, most importantly, earn its place in your wardrobe.

Barbour does exactly that.

Why We Introduced Barbour to Dotique

Barbour is one of those rare British brands that almost everyone recognises. Founded in South Shields in 1894, it has more than 130 years of history behind it—but that isn’t the only reason we wanted it at Dotique.

What really drew us to Barbour was how wearable the collection felt. These are clothes for actual everyday life: warm jackets for cold mornings, lovely knitwear to wear with your favourite jeans, useful layers for changeable weather and accessories that also make brilliant gifts.

Quality was a huge part of the decision too. We want to bring you pieces that won’t feel dated after one season, and Barbour’s mix of practical design, distinctive details and classic colours fits naturally alongside the brands you already know and love at Dotique.

What Is the Difference Between Barbour and Barbour International?

Although the two collections share the same Barbour name, they each have their own character.

The main Barbour womenswear collection is rooted in the brand’s British country heritage. You’ll find traditional quilting, tartan details, textured knitwear, fleeces and comfortable everyday footwear. It feels classic, but the shapes and styling make it very easy to wear now.

Barbour International has a different starting point. The collection grew from Barbour’s motorcycling heritage, which began when Duncan Barbour introduced a waxed cotton motorcycle suit in 1936. Today, that influence can be seen in its sharper branding, hardware and more contemporary outerwear.

If classic country-inspired layers are more your style, you’ll probably be drawn to Barbour. If you prefer something sleeker or a little sportier, Barbour International may be the one for you. There is plenty of crossover between the two, though—and we certainly won’t be making you choose!

A Barbour Collection Chosen for Real Life

As always, we haven’t simply bought into a name. We’ve carefully selected the pieces we genuinely think our customers will enjoy wearing.

Our first Barbour edit includes cosy cable-knit jumpers, Fair Isle knits, striped sweaters, soft fleeces and reversible layers alongside quilted jackets, puffers and winter coats. We’ve also added slippers and accessories that make lovely gifts—although we completely support buying them for yourself.

From Barbour International, expect warm longline puffers, faux-fur-lined layers and quilted jackets with a slightly more modern edge.

The colours have been carefully considered too. There are plenty of useful neutrals—including navy, black, olive, cream and truffle—alongside patterns and tartans that add something more interesting to an outfit.

How We’ll Be Wearing It

One of the reasons Barbour works so well for Dotique is that it sits naturally with the pieces already in your wardrobe.

Wear a cable-knit jumper with straight-leg jeans and boots, add a fleece to cords for relaxed weekend days or throw a quilted jacket over knitwear when the weather turns colder. A longline Barbour International puffer is brilliant with slim or straight trousers, while a shorter jacket works beautifully with wider-leg jeans.

The reversible liners are particularly useful for autumn. Wear the plain quilted side when you want something simple, then turn it around to show the tartan with a neutral knit underneath.

These are pieces you can style in lots of different ways without having to rethink your whole wardrobe.

BARBOUR KNITWEAR AT DOTIQUE

Dorothy Says

I’ve wanted to bring Barbour to Dotique because it’s a brand people already know and trust, but there was still so much in the collection that felt fresh to me when we went buying. I was particularly drawn to the knitwear, the reversible layers and the Barbour International coats. They’re practical, but they still have lovely details—and that balance is exactly what I look for when choosing something for Dotique. I can already picture how our customers will wear everything, which is always a very good sign!
