How to Wear Vilagallo: Our AW26 Styling Guide

If there’s one brand at Dotique that has never understood the meaning of boring, it’s Vilagallo.

The Spanish brand has become a real favourite of ours for exactly that reason. There’s always colour, print or an unexpected detail somewhere — but the clever thing about Vilagallo is that the pieces are much easier to wear than they might first appear.

And the Vilagallo Autumn/Winter 2026 collection might be one of my favourites yet.

There’s gingham, plaid, velvet, brilliant wool coats, statement shirts and plenty of colour. Some pieces tap straight into the heritage mood we’re seeing everywhere this autumn, while others are unmistakably Vilagallo — playful, colourful and designed to make getting dressed a bit more fun.

So, if you love Vilagallo but sometimes wonder how to actually wear the bolder pieces, these are the outfits I’d start with.

This is probably the easiest way into Vilagallo.

You don't need to build an elaborate outfit around a statement shirt. In fact, I think they look best when you don't.

The new Vilagallo 34022 Striped Shirt with Ferris Wheel Print is a perfect example. Wear it with your favourite blue jeans, add a belt and keep everything else simple. The shirt is the outfit.

The collection also includes the White Ferris Wheel Print Shirt, Geo Navy Hotel Shirt, White Shirt with Cat Print and Among Stars and Guitars Shirt — exactly the sort of slightly unexpected prints Vilagallo does brilliantly.

My rule with these is simple: don't compete with them. Denim, simple trousers and uncomplicated shoes are all they need.

This is where Vilagallo AW26 gets particularly good.

Checks and heritage influences are a big part of autumn dressing, but Vilagallo hasn't approached them in a predictable way.

The Vilagallo 33889 Blue Gingham Tie Neck Shirt gives you the traditional check, but the tie-neck detail makes it feel much more interesting. Then there's the Vilagallo 34190 Red and Blue Gingham Toggle Shirt, which takes gingham in a completely different direction.

I'd wear either with modern denim — particularly a barrel or wide-leg jean — rather than trying to make the rest of the outfit feel heritage too.

It's also exactly why we've included Vilagallo in our Highland Romance story this season. You can nod to that traditional autumn look without feeling as though you're wearing a costume.

One of my favourite pieces from the collection is the Vilagallo 34160 Graffiti Plaid Shirt.

This is Vilagallo in a nutshell.

Plaid could be traditional. Instead, they've taken it and added something completely unexpected.

That's what makes pieces like this surprisingly useful in a wardrobe. You still get the familiar autumn check that works beautifully with denim, brown, navy and boots, but it has enough personality to make a very simple outfit interesting.

If your wardrobe is predominantly plain, this is exactly the sort of piece I'd introduce rather than suddenly trying to become someone who wears print head-to-toe.

I LOVE the Vilagallo coats this season.

The Vilagallo 33870 Navy Blue Wool Coat with Wavy Detail and 33868 Wavy Green Wool Coat are brilliant examples of something Vilagallo does particularly well: proper outerwear that isn't boring.

A statement coat actually makes autumn dressing easier.

You can be wearing jeans and a knit underneath and still look completely pulled together once the coat goes on.

And if you're prepared to go even further, there's the Vilagallo Black Coat with Ferris Wheel Print.

No complicated styling required. Let the coat have its moment.

If you're someone who automatically reaches for black trousers from September onwards, this is an easy change.

The AW26 collection includes both navy and burgundy velvet trousers, bringing colour and texture into an outfit without requiring a print.

I'd keep the top half simple: a beautiful white shirt, fine knit or even a T-shirt and jacket.

The burgundy pair in particular taps into one of the colours we're loving this autumn and works beautifully with cream, navy, pink, camel and chocolate brown.

It's a small wardrobe switch, but it makes an outfit feel completely different.

There are some fantastic dresses in the collection, including the Vilagallo 34167 Pink and Green Paisley Midi Dress and the 34077 Pink and Black Geo Midi Dress.

But I wouldn't automatically think occasionwear.

One of the easiest ways to get more wear from a printed midi dress through autumn is to make everything around it less dressy.

Add boots. Add a cardigan or jacket. When it gets colder, add tights.

That's when a statement dress becomes something you can actually enjoy wearing rather than something waiting in your wardrobe for an invitation.

This is probably the biggest thing I'd say to customers who love Vilagallo on the rail but then tell me:

“I love it, but I don't know if I could wear it.”

You absolutely do not need to suddenly start mixing three prints.

Choose one.

A striped shirt with your normal jeans. A gingham blouse with navy trousers. A green coat over an otherwise neutral outfit. A paisley dress with simple boots.

Vilagallo's current collection is full of those individual statement pieces, which is exactly why it can work even if the rest of your wardrobe is relatively understated. Dotique's current Vilagallo edit spans colours including blue, pink, black, white, brown, green, burgundy, red and multicolour, so there is plenty beyond the very brightest prints. 

For me, Vilagallo is a reminder that your wardrobe doesn't have to become entirely brown, black and grey just because summer is over.

AW26 still feels unmistakably autumnal — checks, wool, velvet, deeper colours and brilliant outerwear are all there — but there's humour and personality running through it too.

And I think that's why Vilagallo works so well at Dotique.
